Puk-A-Luk is a new table game from KC Design which was launched earlier this year at the EAG show in London.
Targeted at a global audience, there is a patent pending and the first installation will take place in Newcastle, UK. A completely mechanical game, it won the Mark Synott Award for best new game at last month’s Amex show in Dublin, Ireland.
The table has a full pack of cards plus one joker laid out on it for placing bets. There are also red/black and odds/evens. Players place bets on single cards or splits of two, three, four, five or 10 cards. Also on the table are four squares, each with a suit symbol. Bets placed on these cover all the cards in that particular suit.
There is also a wheel that has the same 53 cards placed around the edge. The wheel is enclosed in an upright housing at the top of the table. Pins are laser placed between each card on the wheel, which is also laser cut.
A puck is placed in the wheel and a handle protrudes from the side of the cabinet. When the handle is pulled, the wheel spins. The puck bounces around on the pins and as the wheel slows down and comes to a halt the puck will fall between two pins and indicate the winning card.
