Despite Spanish market conditions, which see limited numbers of casino machines and extensive AWP machines that are equipped with low value banknote readers and 3.5ins coin mechanisms, MEI reported a very positive response to its products at the FER exhibition, held in Madrid, Spain, at the end of last month.
Core products, including the CF9500 coin mechanism and the well-known SC Cashflow banknote reader, which has already been implemented by Spanish companies Cirsa and Metronia, were on show along with the first working prototypes of GEO Gravity with a euro note set, which will receive test trials with 100 per cent of the companies approached.
Commenting on the market in Spain, an MEI representative told InterGame that although the market’s health is not the best in terms of income, the ample offer shown by many manufacturers means not only that the market is still very competitive but also that there is more focus on the importance of certain elements that form the essential part of the machines manufactured, i.e. note acceptors.
GEO is set to start test trials in Spain between now and spring 2009.
