The US state of Pennsylvania is closing all of its FECs, tenpin bowling centres, cinemas and other entertainment until January 4.

The state will also close indoor dining at restaurants and bars, all from December 12. Governor Tom Wolf said: “We had all hoped that it would not come to this, but the virus continues to rage in Pennsylvania and over the past few weeks it has become clear that we need further mitigation actions.”

Not everyone is in agreement. According to local publication, the Beaver County Times, the state’s Licensed Beverage and Tavern Association said: “We get that the virus is contagious. We get that the number of confirmed cases and hospitalisations are increasing, but we don’t get that our state government has asked the industry to sacrifice so much but continues to sacrifice the industry.”
