The first location to reopen its Paradrop VR immersive adventure attraction after the pandemic lockdown is the Universe Science Park in Denmark.

Denmark

The news is particularly fitting because the park was the first venue in the world to launch the attraction in 2018.

Paradrop VR was developed by Frontgrid, a Wales-based company specialising in advanced virtual reality technology. Players create their own adventure, guiding a parachute device with free roam VR content in a variety of games.

Its success in Denmark has been followed by a string of international installations, players enjoying the unique excitement engendered by controlling their own descent through and over target obstacles as they get back down to earth.

With multiple theming and content options and a modular design that provides high hourly capacity, fast ROI and low operating costs, PardropVR has been shown to be ideal for FECs and visitor attractions.

At the Universe Science Park stringent safety precautions have been put into place since it reopened to the public on June 13. For ParadropVR physical distancing in the outdoor queuing area has been brought in with enhanced cleaning of the headsets between rides and sanitiser stations at entrance and exit to the ride.

Jonas Lutterman, COO at the park, said that there had been overwhelmingly positive feedback to the reopening and the ParadropVR had not suffered in its appeal.

“Limiting the number of people in the ParadropVR building at any one time means guests now have to queue outside," he said. "We weren’t sure how they would react but if anything this just seems to increase the sense of anticipation and demand.”

Matt Wells, Frontgrid's CEO, said that his team had been supporting ParadropVR operators as they update their standard operating procedures and establishing reopening plans.
