For a time, it looked live a reprieve might be on the way for AWPs in German bars.

The 11pm curfew, forcing bars to close early, was challenged in a Berlin court by 11 bar owners. The judge overturned the curfew for both bars and restaurants, but they cannot serve alcohol after 11pm.

German bars are primary venues for AWP machines, but without being able to serve alcohol, there will be little point in the venues remaining open after the curfew time.

The judge decided that the curfew was disproportionate when compared with other measures designed to combat the pandemic. But the ban on alcohol sales after that time remains, as the judge said that the absence of alcohol would mean less risk of uninhibited behaviour which could spread the virus.
