The Novomatic Group of Companies has confirmed Craig Beer’s departure from subsidiary Empire Games and a restructure of the Empire brand.

The following statement was issued by Zane Mersich, group chief executive officer of Novomatic UK, to Coin-op Community:
“We can categorically state that Empire Games will not be closing down. It will remain as an important ingredient within the Novomatic UK product mix and continue as a division of Astra Games. It’s no secret that the market has been tough for the UK leisure and gaming industry in recent years and Empire has not been immune to that. We have reached a point where it has become necessary to change the structure of the Empire business in order to mitigate those circumstances and ensure the future success of the brand.
“The feeling among the Group is that the Empire business will benefit significantly from being an integral component within Astra Games and operating under the Astra Games leadership. In line with that view we chose to restructure and right size the Empire business. As a result, redundancies have been kept to a bare minimum and a significant number of the staff have been retained to work within the Group.
“By way of mutual agreement, managing director Craig Beer will be leaving the company. We wish him well for the future.”
