A move to open up Spain's Balearic islands to more AWP licences is to be blocked.

A recent High Court decision in Spain declared illegal the removal of a previous ban on any more operating licences being granted.

Since 1999 the number of machines on the islands has been held at around 6,000 by this method and the legal removal of the ban on fresh licences being available had caused operators to fear a major influx of operators from mainland Spain and a glut of machines on the islands.

The Spanish Government is now preparing an emergency decree returning the islands to the previous closed state.
