There is to be no resurrection for the giant Palm Jebel Ali project in the medium-term, it has been announced.

The Palm Jebel Ali is a proposed residential/commercial/entertainment development at Dubai, United Arab Emirates.  It was started as far back as 2002, but was stalled by the economic downturn and Dubai’s property market crash in 2009.

Palm Jebel Ali was to have been several times larger than the famous Palm Jumeirah and would have had six marinas, a floating bridge, theme parks and housing built on stilts above the water.

The developer, the major Nakheel group, confirmed last week that Palm Jebel Ali remains ‘long term’. Meanwhile, Nakheel is proceeding with it’s The World islands project, another major undertaking of 300 man-made islands and a new beachfront at Dubai
