Testing organisation NMi is turning its attention to Spain, reports Denise Gehlen, account manager for the Dordrecht, Netherlands, based company.

“Spain is an important market and we expect to have our first accreditation by the beginning of 2009,” she said. That will come in Catalunya and other Spanish jurisdictions will quickly follow.

Meanwhile, the company has opened an office and laboratory in Padova, Italy.  Eastern Europe is also a target, notably Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic and the Ukraine. “Some markets are a government monopoly, but we expect those monopolies to be broken, especially in those countries which are members of the EC.”
