Smaaash, the India-based amusement manufacturer and operator, released a number of new products at the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, US, during November.

New products for Smaaash

Jurassic Escape is a dinosaur-themed virtual reality experience.

“It’s basically a 90-second compressed roller coaster version of Jurassic Park,” said Kaizad Bajina, chief operating officer.

He said that 90 seconds is typical for all Smaaash’s VR experiences “because after that you risk your customer getting nauseated,” he said.

The company has updated its Finger Coaster to be automated. The game, which allows customers to draw and then ride their own virtual roller coaster, needed an attendant until the most recent design, enabling customers to pay and use them without assistance. This was achieved through the addition of intuitive new software that knows when the player has put on the headset and gives them a ten-second countdown when the game is about to begin.

Outside of VR, Smaaash also exhibited its new basketball game Hoop Shot. The standout element of this machine is that it throws the ball at the player, creating an urgency that isn’t naturally present in all such games.

Bajina also revealed the chain has plans to open four sites in the US in the next year.
