The Ticket Out solution from Games Media is helping to eliminate coin hopper starvation.

It replaces traditional coin payouts with printed tickets. These are then redeemed by the player at the bar in exchange for cash from the till. The technology has operational benefits, which mean that staff no longer need to refill their machines with coins every day and aren’t running the risk of a machine shutting down because of hopper starvation.

Games Media’s operations director Ian Shreeve said: "Refilling has been a long-standing problem with AWP and SWP machines in pub retail venues, but since the introduction of £70 jackpots last year things have got much worse.

"Without a strict routine for regular refilling, licensees are running the risk of hopper starvation where their machines stop accepting notes because they can’t fulfil prize payouts, which is clearly a wasted opportunity for generating income.

"Ticket Out solves this problem because prizes are collected away from the machine at the bar," he continued.

Games Media began deploying Ticket Out technology 12 months ago and during initial trials some venues reported uplifts of up to 34 per cent in machine income. Ticket Out technology is now operating in 50 per cent of Games Media supplied venues, working on both the VAWP and SWP platforms.

Games Media is continuing to develop Ticket Out by using it to build customer loyalty and repeat business. Shreeve continued: "Ticket Out is a direct benefit of us having a connected digital gaming product, one which offers a fully secure transactional system and brings security and integrity to both player and venue. This is something simply not afforded by non-connected analogue gaming products."
