LBVR operator The Void has opened its newest location in San Francisco.

The fourth floor of the Westfield Mall is home to the company’s hugely successful Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire and Ralph Breaks VR.

Further US Void venues are due in Arcadia, Canoga Park, San Diego and Santa Clara, all in California, Skokie, Illinois and Paramus, New Jersey.

Internationally, the company is expanding heavily into Europe with locations planned for Vienna, Austria, Copenhagen, Denmark, Paris, France, Oberhausen, Germany, Stockholm, Sweden and two in London, UK.

Bowling entertainment centre operator Pinz (pictured) has received the green light from the city planning board in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to open its new venue.

The Portsmouth Green Mall will be the home of Pinz’s latest development  which will sit alongside The Veridian, a high-end 94-apartment complex and a Cinemagic cinema.

Pinz Portsmouth will have 10 bowling lanes, a selection of arcade games and a restaurant. It is due to open in autumn.

Norwegian Cruise Line

While not strictly a location as such, the new Norwegian Encore, which is currently in its final phase of construction, is the cruise line’s newest vessel and features some impressive amusment options The 1,100ft long vessel has a gross tonnage of almost 170,000 and a guest capacity of 3,998.

Once it leaves the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany it will ply the Caribbean in late November.

Norwegian features the world’s longest go-kart track at sea, measuring 1,100ft with four high-speed curves extending up to 13ft over the side of the ship. A laser tag arena at nearly 10,000sq.ft uses augmented reality in its Atlantis-themed setting, while an immersive escape room and interactive theatre experience will be available to passengers.

Main Event has opened its first Baton Rouge, Louisiana, location featuring bowling, laser tag and video games at the Mall of Louisiana.

A soft opening only at the time of writing, the grand opening for the 50,000sq.ft FEC is set for August 28.

The venue features 22 bowling lanes, a two-storey laser tag arena, more than 120 video games and a zip line over the arcade floor. A bar and kitchen will serve the F and B options.

About 200 people will work at this, the 42nd location for Main Event.

While Scene75 operates at the larger end of the scale, even by US standards, nothing is currently bigger than the chain’s upcoming Colombus, Ohio, location.

At 220,000sq.ft, Scene75 Columbus will be the largest entertainment centre in the US when it opens later this year. Twenty attractions are currently squeezing into yet another space formerly occupied by a department store in Tuttle Mall in the suburb of Dublin.

The Nuclear Rush roller coaster will headline an impressive attraction line-up, which will also include two laser mazes, two-level laser tag, a fire and ice-themed bar and restaurant, arcade, indoor electric go-karts, inflatapark, bumper cars, mini-golf, drop tower ride, a Triotech XD dark ride, archery tag, karaoke and batting cages.

In yet more developments stateside, Waukesha, Wisconsin, is to be the site of Urban Air’s latest indoor adventure park.

A former retail store on Moreland Boulevard in the city is where the operator plans to open a venue offering a trampoline park, dodgeball courts, ninja warrior courses and a roller coaster.

It is expected to open by late 2020.
