A fire destroyed more than six blocks of arcades and other related businesses at Seaside Park/Seaside Heights along the New Jersey shore last week.

This devastating fire comes only a year after Hurricane Sandy destroyed the entire area. In fact, the businesses in this area had only finished rebuilding the boardwalk in May.
The fire started at an ice cream stand and quickly spread along the boardwalk due to winds of up to 40mph. More than 400 fire fighters worked through the night to try to quell the devastating fire. The Funtown Arcade and pier were totally destroyed.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christy visited the devastated area and vowed to rebuild once again this popular seaside resort. The state is to bear the cost of the total demolition and removal of the sites. It will also provide further financial assistance to local businesses.
Worryingly, local businesses reported that this season income was already down by 30 per cent.
