A new interactive dark ride has launched at the chocolate-themed entertainment venue, Cadbury World, near Birmingham, UK.

Powered by Alterface, the new experience is a first for the site, which allows guests to experience the story of chocolate through an attraction.
Alterface worked from Merlin Entertainments’ initial design, helping to refine the project and assuming management responsibilities. Cadbury Chocolate Quest features nine trackless and specially designed ETF Multi Mover cars, giving it a throughput of 600 guests per hour. Riders experience scent, wind and heat special effects through six interactive scenes as they discover the story of beloved Cadbury character Freddo and his team of Cadbury Buttons monkeys.
Riders use “Cadbury Collectors” to gather cocoa pods and milk before combining them.
Benjamin Walravens, show producer at Alterface, said: “As it happens, Freddo was a perfect match for the storytelling part of the ride and his team of Buttons monkey friends were just what we needed to bring some fun and mischief to the scene.
“The animators from 1050 studio created the monkeys to be the cutest and funniest characters I've worked with so far.”
The ride is designed to be inclusive, with special armrests on some of the seats to accommodate easier access, while one of the ride cars is compatible with wheelchairs.
Cadbury Chocolate Quest is the 30th collaboration between Alterface and Merlin Entertainments.
