2011 will get off to a good start for Intercard, the debit card and management systems specialist for family entertainment centres. The company's system is being installed in a big new FEC opening in Dubai in January.
The location is named Casper and is located at the Festival City shopping mall. The developer is Future Kid, the major operator from Kuwait. Casper, named after the cartoon character, will be themed to fit the name and will contain over 150 games, all linked by Intercard.
The American-based company is having a good winter. At the IAAPA show in Orlando Intercard’s customer AGAT, based in Kazakhstan, won the Brass Ring Award for the top FEC in the world. The operator won the award for its location Filion in Moscow and has plans to open a second location this month.
Alberto Borrero, who heads Intercard’s international sales, said: "The show was probably the best we have had in the past five years, which demonstrates that the FEC business is recovering well. The quality of visitors and projected new openings discussed with our clients at the booth showed that everyone is in expansion mood for 2011. Somehow the line of credit is now flowing again and shopping malls are under development and there are plenty of additional amusement centres in the pipeline."
A full report on the new location in Dubai will appear in the February issue of InterGame.
