The amusement industry needs to do more to ensure that it attracts talented new developers, it has been suggested.
Shannon Perell, research and development manager at LAI Games, said that by attracting new developers and designers brings fresh ideas to the industry.
“We have recruited several young developers over the last six months and their impact has been very positive,” he said. “They bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and unique skill sets that, when combined with current development processes and tools, allow us to create fun and exciting games that are relevant to today’s gamers.”
Finding and nurturing these talented new designers requires a more proactive approach from the sector, he said.
“Many young developers do not consider amusement as a career because, as an industry, we fly under the gaming radar when compared to console, PC and mobile gaming.
“We need to raise awareness about the industry.”
