Following closely upon its opening last week of a refurbished bowling complex at Carlisle, England, Hollywood Bowl has this week opened an all-new venue at York Stadium.

The £2.8m location is an integral part of a huge new leisure project in the Huntingdon complex within the stadium. The 28,000sq.ft entertainment venue will be filled with other big-name brands and F&B offerings.

Hollywood Bowl CEO Stephen Burns said: “As a leading tenpin bowling operator in the UK, we have to lead in health and safety considerations as well as great-value entertainment. We have received excellent feedback from our first customers at York.”

The location contains the latest technology, a fully-stocked bar and American diner and a host of amusement products. The venue created 30 new jobs.

York has 24 lanes of bowling and four unique and exclusive VIP lanes. Working with them is a new pre-booking system to control capacity and currently, every other lane is closed and amusement machines given extra space. Groups are limited to a maximum of six. They have to wear their own bowling shoes and have the option of disposable gloves. Contactless payments are incorporated throughout the location.

Hollywood Bowl Group has 64 venues across the UK, plus a number of Puttstars mini golf brands. It employs 2,000 people.
