The Kalahari Resort and Camp Convention Center, in Wisconsin Dells, US, opened a $20m indoor amusement facility last month, with the aim of attracting more tourists to the centre.
The 110,000sq.ft theme park features a six-storey ferris wheel, a 28ft wide carrousel, an elevated go-cart track and miniature golf as well as a 24-lane bowling alley, golf simulators, climbing walls, laser tag and a 24ft high ropes course.
Todd Nelson, Kalahari’s president and owner, said: "We really feel we’re going to be able to keep this hopping all the time. This is for everybody. People are looking for new experiences."
The Kalahari, is the latest US destination to jump into the indoor amusement industry and in the last two years the additions have included bowling lanes, sports bars, roller coasters, bumper cars, multi-level play areas, simulators and ticket redemption machines.
Toursim generates more than $1bn a year in revenue for the Wisconsin Dells area and over the last 13 years indoor waterparks have helped turn the area into a year-round vacation spot.
