According to the International Flipper Pinball Association, pinball is making a major comeback.
This is based upon the resurging interest in the competitions around the world. The association says that in 2006 there were 500 competitors in around 50 tournaments; in 2017 there were 55,000 pinball enthusiasts playing in 4,500 competitions.
Principal manufacturer Stern Pinball has reported an increase in profits in 2017 of 30 per cent over its results from 2016 and those results, in turn, were 40 per cent up on 2015.
