Ricardo Malo, the owner of Mexico’s Replay Arcade, spoke to Ian Donegan about the challenges of running an amusement business in the country.

HAVING watched his father run arcades across different cities in Mexico in the early 1990s, Ricardo Malo has started his own amusement business in Plaza San Pedro mall in the city of Mexicali. Replay Arcade has more than 80 games, ranging from classics to the latest crane and redemption games. Its additional amenities include a redemption store and a bar for snacks and drinks.

He got involved in his father’s business four years ago and then, at the beginning of 2019, decided to start his own venture. “We worked on this concept together with a great team of local architects and designers and developed what is now Replay Arcades. We opened for business in July,” he said.
