The IAAPI trade show held in Mumbai last week (March 15-17) was a disappointing one for several western exhibitors.
An immediate view from Alberto Borrero (Intercard) and Prakash Vivekanand (ASI) were that the show lacked footfall but that, within the limited attendance, quality of visitors was ‘decent’. The organisation was described as ‘better’ this year, which will come as a relief to the event’s owners, the IAAPI trade association.
However, InterGame’s resident correspondent in India, Pramod Krishna, felt footfall was ‘visibly down’ and that the profile of visitors was poor, largely through inadequate marketing of the event. Like many other exhibitors, Krishna pointed out that the venue, the Mumbai World Trade Centre, was of a poor standard.
UK company UDC, on the other hand, felt the show was successful. Mark Horwood said that footfall was ‘low’, but that “all the main players were
there.”
Of the 73 listed exhibitors, 53 were Indian companies; the others came from the UAE, US (4), UK, Philippines, China (2), Canada, Switzerland, Russia, Italy (3), Argentina, Japan, Belgium, Egypt, Taiwan and Spain.
