The latest news from the amusement market in the Middle East shows that it continues to develop, despite political unrest in some markets, notably Syria, Egypt, Bahrain and Yemen.

Reports indicate that income from operations remains strong and even shows a minor year-on-year increase. New projects while slow and still reliant on funding, nevertheless continue to take place. A new Magic Planet is due to open in Fujeirah, in the UAE shortly and Fun City has a new location in the same Emirate probably opening in January.

The Saudi group Al Hokair will open its first Indian FEC next April. Meanwhile in Dubai, the major theme park Universal Studios is back on track and the Ferrari theme park in Abu Dhabi is to open new attractions. Sega Republic, which has a major store in the Emaar City Centre Mall in Dubai, will open another in Dubai in February.

Another project in the region is Jungle Land at Doha, Qatar, which is undergoing a major renovation that may lead to expansion.
