The organisation that represents the Middle East and North African leisure attractions sector described the report as "a treasure trove of authentic industry data.” It is full of industry statistics and detail relating to countries, their facts and figures and the development of new leisure projects.

“It will help the industry stakeholders to assess market opportunities and update their business plans,” said the association. The document covers 260 pages. The intention is to repeat the publication on an annual basis to chart the performance and development of the leisure entertainment and attractions sector in the region.

“It is an exclusive publication driven by the need to obtain and report qualified industry data and aid the further development of the industry. It will be of huge benefit to all industry stakeholders and decision makers, new investors, developers, financial institutions and business analysts.

“It will also be a celebration of the vibrant and dynamic leisure industry in the MENA region with a showcase of all the leading leisure projects in each MENA country,” said Prakash Vivekanand, board member of MENALAC.

Based on research collected in 2019, it will be circulated to government departments, tourism boards, related ministries, regulatory authorities, chambers of commerce, property developers, investment houses, financial institutions, audit companies, trade departments of international embassies, leading leisure and architectural consultants, and leisure industry stakeholders internationally. It will also be available on the MENALAC website.

Said Silvio Liedtke, vice president of MENALAC and CEO of Landmark Leisure: “The Middle East has been for a number years now one of the most dynamic, fast moving and innovative regions worldwide within the leisure and entertainment industry. To substantiate this tremendous growth and ambition, we now want to create a benchmark and database of our wonderfully diverse and growing industry to give both new entrants and established players a source of sharing best practice, relevant information and industry specific data. This will help everybody to come to the right decisions and will ultimately help our industry to measure its significant contribution to the overall GDP’s of the countries within the MENA region.”

MENALAC secretary general Rosa Tahmaseb, added: “This is very significant project intended to help our members and the MENA leisure and attractions industry with a wealth of information that will help them to assess the state of the industry, adjust their business strategies and explore business opportunities.

"We developed our plans for the report to highlight the significance of the industry and the contribution of these sectors to the economy of each country within the MENA region. Moreover, it is aimed at helping our members and other stakeholders to quickly see, evaluate and move forward with seizing the growing business opportunities in the region.”

MENALAC has over 470 operating companies and 200 brands from 22 countries in membership. They are all in the MENA region, plus representation from Pakistan and Afghanistan.
