Businesses in the Middle East region are now 82 per cent recovered from the effects of the pandemic, according to the Hays GCC Salary and Employment Report.

The statistics organisation said the region’s businesses, led by telecoms, pharmaceuticals, banking and finance, had recovered well from the impact of the pandemic.

A survey of over 3,500 employers and employees across the region showed that 64 per cent now expect to recruit additional staff in the next year and nearly half expect salaries to increase. The report also said, however, that during 2020 the sectors that experienced the greatest number of salary reductions (34 per cent) included hospitality and tourism.
