Continuing to strengthen its position within the Middle East, Merit Entertainment has completed an agreement to supply Dubai International airport with 100 Megatouch terminals, which will be installed at all 87 gates and in the VIP lounges.

The introduction of Merit’s RX Megatouch model has been received extremely well in the Middle East, according to Javier Lanfranchi. Speaking at the DEAL show yesterday, he told InterGame: "The recession is affecting us all; it’s not easy but I can’t complain as we have already received orders for the new model. There is no doubt that the Middle East is our best market at the moment but there is a lot of business still to be done.

"There are still opportunities out there but we have to work a lot harder to get the business," he continued. "You can’t just get a distributor to do all the work - you have to get out there and keep pushing things through. They key is down to better service - take nothing for granted."

The Megatouch brand is extremely strong in the Middle East and, for Lanfranchi, the fact that there is no competition from gaming machines is a huge advantage as this is the main competition in regions such as Europe and South America.
