The Andalucia amusement and gaming machine show opened its doors in Malaga on Wednesday of this week to reports that the show may downscale next year if it is held at all.
Several major names were missing from this year’s event, including MGA, Zest and Global Zitro and the talk at the show was that the global recession will mean that Spain no longer needs two national shows. The Malaga event, held in the city’s prestigious exhibition complex, may even revert back to a regional event and return to its home up to four years ago, the Torremolinos exhibition centre.
But the show was still very busy, especially on the second day, as the healthy Spanish AWP business moves closer to an all-video gaming machine basis. The last remaining sizeable jurisdiction, Madrid, will probably approve the new style of games in September.
Malaga remains very much an international event, at least in terms of its visitors. Equipment and visitors were there from Germany, Austria, Italy, the UK, Netherlands, as well as most of the major Spanish names.
