The foundation stone for the new City Centre Almaza shopping mall in Cairo, Egypt, was laid last week by UAE mall developer Majid Al Futtaim and its own family entertainment centres division, MAF Leisure, will open one of its Magic Planet locations in the new development.
The US$509m project will be Futtaim’s 14th mall in its City Centre network. Egyptian government officials were among the guests at the bricklaying ceremony held on Sunday of last week.
The location is in Heliopolis, the high-end suburb of Cairo, and the new mall will create 22,000 direct jobs. It will open in the first quarter of 2019 and will feature 103,000sq.m of retail for 300 outlets, 23 restaurants, food court outlets and nine cafes. There will be a Carrefour supermarket and one of MAF’s own VOX multiplex cinemas. The Magic Planet will cover 1,800sq.m.
