A city-wide inspection of coin-operated children's rides will take place in Shanghai, China, after 58 machines were confiscated in the Zhabei district due to safety issues.

The inspection comes after a three-year-old boy had three of his fingers amputated because he got his hand caught after riding one of the machines in Pudong New Area.

All of the confiscated machines lacked labels that detailed where and when they were made. An investigation found that the machines' owner had bought them online from a seller in Zhejiang province.

The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision will now carry out an inspection with the Administration of Industry and Commerce to check each machine in the city.
