More evidence of the growth in competitive socialising comes this week from Roxy Leisure, set to open its first Booze & Ball Games venue in London in the spring of next year.

A site opposite the iconic Gherkin in St Mary Axe is planned for the Roxy Ball Room, with tech darts, basketball, beer pong, duck pin bowling, ping pong, shooting pods, pool, tech shuffle, karaoke, ice-free curling and crazy pool.

It will all be accompanied by a bar and restaurant, the company said this week, all reserved for the over-18s.

Roxy Leisure Holdings in August announced a name change to Professionals at Play, specialising in competitive socialising, as an umbrella for its Roxy Leisure and Pins Leisure brands. At the same time a new COO was announced, Colin Sadler.

Roxy Leisure was founded by Matt and Ben Jones and opened its first Roxy Ball Room in Leeds in 2013. Since then it has opened further venues in Leeds again and then expanded to 11 sites plus eight tenpin sites in York, Nottiingham, Birmingham, Leicester, Cardiff, Cheltenham and Liverpool.
