Laserforce has expanded the capabilities of its Gen 8 laser tag offering.
Released in September, it features a vest and phaser design with lighting effects, a capacitive touch phaser screen and interactive chest screen.
Power ups gained and other notifications also appear on a screen on the gun.
“Everyone is familiar with how iPhone notifications work now so we thought this would work well in laser tag,” said Jeff Willy, COO.
Players now have the option of choose avatars from the screen on their gun. Part of picking an avatar is choosing a nationality for them and when a player is tagged, the one who tagged them hears a response from their character from the speaker in their vest. At the time of writing, nine weeks after its release, the company had installed 1,300 units in the US, Scotland, Germany, Thailand, Australia and Canada.
“And there is no sign that that is slowing down. We have bookings well into next year as well,” said Willy.
