After masterminding the development of one of the world's biggest family entertainment centres, Gondolania, at Doha, the capital of Qatar, Michel Koborsi has been rewarded with promotion to fresh responsibilities within the owning group.

Koborsi was CEO of the Fun Fair Company, which ran first the Circusland FEC at the Landmark Mall in the city and then three years ago embarked on the ambitious Gondolania project. This was opened in April of this year. The FEC covers 22,000sq.m and includes many major rides including a roller coaster, hundreds of amusement games, go-karting, bowling, ice skating and innumerable food and beverage outlets.

Fun Fair Company is a subsidiary of the Business Trading Company, which also owns the Playland operating company, but most notably it owns the two giant malls, Villaggio, which contains Gondolania and the Landmark, as well as retail and department stores and has an involvement in property and construction.

Koborsi has now been moved to the group headquarters, in the Landmark Mall, where he will now be responsible for all future new major projects for the group. His new title is group trading director.

Management of Gondolania is now in the hands of Koborsi’s former second-in-command, Andy Arevalo, while the Circusland FEC at Landmark will be run by Jojo Ropero, another former lieutenant of Koborsi at Gondolania.
