Content is critical – even if it doesn’t give the best ROI – to the success of a location, said Stephen King, CEO at Dave and Buster’s, when he was presenting a keynote address to a major seminar at the G2E casino equipment trade show this week in Las Vegas.

King was interviewed by TV and radio personality Carol Roth and he detailed the background to the success of the adult entertainment centre chain.

King felt that the success of Dave and Buster’s was a model for casinos to innovate and expand into integrated resorts. Guests, he said, are seeking experiences they cannot find at home, especially new, unique and proprietary content.

Casual experiences are being introduced to appeal to a Generation Z (born between the mid-1990s and 2000) audience. According to Dave and Buster’s research, this group is "more chill" than the millennials.

He added that investing in new content, even if it does not have the highest return, is very important for a brand.
