The northernmost of the seven emirates in the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah already boasts the world’s longest zipline and the Via Ferrata mountain climbing experiences on the country’s highest peak, Jebel Jais.

The Jebel Jais Zipline Tour features seven ziplines flying over the cliffs and canyons of the mountain area, which are connected by nine platforms. The cluster of lines covers a total distance of 5km (ranging from 337m to 1km in length), with an average speed of 60kmph. During the tour, flyers will reach the 15m long sky bridge, the highest in the UAE at 1,250m above sea level and 300m above ground, which they will have to cross to finish the remaining part of the tour journey.

“As Jebel Jais remains core to our overall tourism proposition in making Ras Al Khaimah a global destination, we recognise the importance of constantly evolving our outdoor offering,” said Raki Phillips, CEO of RAKTDA. “As Ras Al Khaimah is widely considered the region’s nature-adventure hub, we strongly believe that the introduction of new, innovative products is essential to meet demands of its rising visitor numbers, particularly among active adventure and sports enthusiasts.”

Ricardo Lizano, COO of ToroVerde, said: “We are excited to launch yet another product on Jebel Jais, especially after the successful, record-level launch of Jebel Jais Flight over a year ago that continues to receive tremendous response. This time, adventure enthusiasts visiting Jebel Jais will have yet another reason to come with the Zip-line Tour.”

New adventure tourism projects in the pipeline include the Bull Maze, due by the end of this year. A field of 35 challenging obstacles suspended in the air, distributed on three levels of a 20m high structure will challenge visitors. Quarter one of 2020 will see a controlled bungee experience, with participants able to free fall 8m followed by a controlled fall of 15m.
