Two of the US industry's major trade groups are donating more than $15,000 to a pair of charitable organisations that are assisting in the ongoing earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.
In the immediate aftermath of the disaster, the board of directors of the Amusement and Music Operators Association Coin-Op Cares Foundation pledged $5,000 to support the efforts of Save the Children and UNICEF, with a challenge to commit up to another $5,000 in matching contributions. The leadership of the American Amusement Machine Charitable Foundation, in conjunction with the AAMCF Endowment Fund honourees, quickly responded with a $5,000 donation to the industry fund-raising initiative.
"The rebuilding process in Haiti will continue for many years," said AMOA president Gary Brewer. "Our industry has a long history of generosity and this contribution to those in such desperate need serves as yet another example of this giving spirit."
