Luxury car outlets in India could soon be sharing their space with amusement and entertainment facilities in an attempt to increase footfall and sales.

According to Pooja Choudary, managing director of Infinity Cars, an exclusive dealer of BMW in India: "Apart from providing us with additional revenues we believe such a strategy would increase footfalls into our showroom."

The Infinity showroom would probably house a 250-seat theatre on the first floor, meaning there could well be opportunities for coin-op amusements. "We have around 5,000sq.ft allocated for the entertainment space and 7,000sq.ft for car display," said Choudary.

Shreyans Automobiles Pvt, in Mumbai, also has similar plans with brand manager Graeme Jackson saying: "We are in talks with entities in the fashion and theatre space, perhaps even holding fashion shows."

According to the society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, the Indian luxury car segment grew by 23 per cent in the April-December 2008 period. Analysts expect sales of luxury cars to grow by an average 20 per cent in the coming years.
