The 2014 IMA trade show opened its doors in Düsseldorf’s Messe exhibition centre this morning to an industry which is thriving but living under the shadow of repressive local legislation across Germany’s 16 semi-autonomous states, or Lånder.
After a two-year hiatus, brought on by the politicking between the industry and the local legislators, the show returned to what is expected to be a record attendance.
The political situation in the German gaming machine industry, outlined in detail in InterGame’s German Special Issue this month, remains high on the agenda for the industry leaders in Germany. The exhibitors, however, were full of enthusiasm for the year ahead, supplying a wealth of new video-based AWP machines to the 263,000-strong base market in Germany.
The show runs for four days and full reporting will appear in out March issue.
