BANDAI NAMCO is to close down its VR arcade Mazaria after little more than 12 months in operation.

Mazaria

The high-technology venue, in Toshima, Tokyo, is a four-zone attraction built over four floors and was highly rated on TripAdvisor.

The location will close down at the end of his month although it was only opened in July of 2019. It is believed that the attraction, aimed principally at families, is a victim of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

Central to the attraction was the Pac-Man Challenge, a virtual reality experience.

The news follows the recent revelation that Sega is to close its well-known Akihabara (Akiba) pop culture-based attraction, also in Tokyo. That has been open for 17 years. That will also close at the end of the month. Again, it is thought that the closure is through the impact of the pandemic.
