Last weekend saw the opening of Skemmtigardurinn, a new family entertainment centre in Iceland.

Located in Smaraland Shopping Centre, the largest in Iceland's capital Reykjavik, the venue covers 2,300sq.m on two floors. The lower floor has the world’s first 360-degree Midi Dance Party and the first 7D DX dark ride to be installed. It also has bumper cars, a children’s Drop Tower and a large softplay area. Upstairs it has a laser tag and a wealth of video and redemption games with pool tables.

The location has been put together in just seven months from initial design by KCC  Entertainment Design and is fully equipped with an Intercard Inano wireless readers debit card system on behalf of owners Ingibjörd Guomundsdóttir and Eythor Gudjonsson, who played a major role in the movie blockbuster Hostel, produced by Quentin Tarantino.

The opening was on Friday, November 11, attended by a large guest list including the Minister for Industry and Tourism and broadcast on national television. It opened to the general public on Saturday.
