Most visitors to the IAAPA show in Las Vegas last week rated the event an outstanding success – particularly the visitors from other countries.
The trade association for amusement parks, IAAPA, had taken 91 years to shift its annual show location to Las Vegas, principally through concerns over its image. But the growing size of the event had taken it beyond the accommodation capabilities of most American show venues. Only Orlando in Florida can still take the show.
Las Vegas therefore offered an alternative which at the same time took away one of the biggest criticisms of the event by American operators on the West Coast who felt that Orlando was too far. Now the show will alternate between the two locations for the next three years.
The show, which ended on Friday of last week, nevertheless saw a drop in floor area bookings, mainly through the recession, but this failed to deflate the enthusiasm for the event shown by the majority of visitors.
A report on the show follows in the December and January issues of InterGame.
