The big IAAPA Expo Asia show opened in Shanghai, China, yesterday at the International Expo Centre for a three-day run.

The show is playing host to an expected 8,500 professionals from the amusement and attractions industry.
There are over 400 exhibiting companies from 30 countries, showing their wares in 13,000sq.m of exhibit space, including 60 companies that have never taken part in the event before. The products include theme park rides, simulators, VR, water attractions, video and skill games, plus all the support services.
Hal McEvoy, president and CEO of IAAPA, said: “This year’s show features the largest exhibition floor in the event’s history and this reflects the strength of the global attractions industry.”
The show has been in Shanghai before but has a policy of moving around between major destinations in the region.
There is the usual IAAPA conference programme, with a keynote address from Joe Schott, president and CEO of Shanghai Disney Resort at this morning’s Leadership Breakfast.
Other events include the opening night reception, which took place last night at Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park. The conference has 10 sessions in all, with speakers from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Universal Beijing Resort, OCT Happy Valley, AECOM, Whitewater, Sanderson and others.
