German virtual reality developer Holodeck VR has completed an overhaul of its corporate identity to become Spree Interactive.

A statement on social media read: “Introducing Spree Interactive. The name Spree sprung from the evolution of our company and products as we have learned from our experience of rolling out innovative free-roam VR over the past year. We listened to our partners at theme parks, FECs, trampoline parks and other amusement locations and have focused our product direction to deliver kid-friendly, family friendly, free-roam VR. The light-hearted name reflects our mission to provide experiences that demonstrate our core values. Simple. Social. Fun.”
Earlier this year, the company secured an investment of €3m from strategic partner ProSiebenSat1 to expand its plans, including combining VR with dodgems.
Holodeck VR uses proprietary technology to bring multi-user, positionally tracked VR to mobile headsets. This allows its users to experience virtual reality in groups of up to 20 people and move around in an empty space of 10x20m, all just wearing VR goggles.
