A famous UK pier, which features a range of family attractions, has announced that its visitor numbers are up on pre-pandemic levels.

Clacton Pier

Clacton Pier, Essex, registered 950,000 visits in 2022, which was 20,000 more than in 2019.

The pier's director, Billy Ball, told the BBC that it was important to keep improving numbers as staff costs were up by 26 per cent.

The location suffered a significant drop in visitors due to restrictions around the Covid-19 pandemic, but has now recovered.

Bowling, soft play, dodgems, mini-golf and an arcade are all on offer at the 152-year-old pier, with three new rides added in 2021.

Ball revealed that he was planning on introducing a 4D cinema and dinosaur experience to the pier.
