Today sees the closing of Hart’s Amusements on Blackpool Promenade at Bispham, UK, following the sale of the property to neighbour Steve Hoddy at Bispham and Cleveleys Kitchens.
The huge arcade has been a feature of many family holidays over the years and its sale has seen an influx of messages expressing sadness from one-time holidaymakers from all over the country.
Today’s closure has been timed to fit with the ending of Blackpool’s Illuminations season. The new owners have gone on record as promising to retain the "tradition that Hart's worked so hard to establish and preserve, within a more up-to-date concept."
Bispham and Cleveleys Kitchen is a family restaurants company with a site close to Hart’s. No definite plans for the arcade have been announced by the new owner, but a spokesperson told the local media that a fast-food complex is one of the options.
