Lacock, the English village that was used as a backdrop to the Harry Potter movies, remains a major attraction, despite the pandemic.

The pretty Wiltshire village is reported to be just as busy in January as it was in a normal summer and now has police on patrol to discourage tourists from entering the village.

Villagers complained about the influx of people breaking the coronavirus distancing and tier rules. Local police report that in a seven-day period in early January it had received 357 reports of breaches in the social distancing rules in the village. It has issued over 300 fines.
