Alan Black, chairman of Sound Leisure, the UK-based jukebox manufacturer, hit 65 today but won't be retiring. He was at his desk as usual this morning and intends to continue to work at the company full-time.

In an interview with InterGame, reviewing his long association with technological changes within the industry, Black cited the introduction of electronics to jukeboxes as the first major change in the coin-operating amusement industry’s history which brought it to its current status.

"Computer technology came in with the jukebox and was quickly followed into other forms of amusement including the AWP machine. It was the Americans, quickly followed by the Japanese and even some UK entrepreneurs and developers from other countries, who contributed to what has happened to the industry over the past 40 years."

Alan Black’s interview, including his views on where the industry goes from here, will be published in our July issue of InterGame.
