If there was ever any doubt that the German casinos are vigorously opposed to the 'street market' of AWP machines in pubs and arcades, proof comes this week in an interview conducting by InterGaming, the international casino publication, with one of the German casinos' leaders, Matthias Hein, CEO of Spielbank SH.
Asked ‘what are the biggest challenges facing land-based casinos in Germany?’, Hein responded: "Challenge number one is to curb the arcade business from further expanding their business with typical casino games of chance. The aim is not a level playing field in terms of player protection, but a legal cut-back on street machines to the very origin of AWP as ‘amusement without prizes’."
