Malaysia’s Genting is investing more than $800m in the new SkyWorld theme park and intends to open it in the second quarter of this year.

The company, better known for its international casinos, has its own theme park in Malaysia. The new park will house brands from movie group 20th Century Studios. The park will be 6,000ft above sea level at Genting Highlands, where the group has its current park, and will cover 26 acres, housing 26 rides.

Lee Thiam Kit, who heads up the group’s business operations and strategies, said the plans to open the park will go ahead, despite the pandemic. The country has been gradually easing restrictions on movement over the past few weeks.
