The acquisition of the Town and County leisure machine group by Germany’s Gauselmann in May saw 1,800 machines brought into the portfolio of Regal Gaming, the German company’s major operator.
At the same time, Town and County’s significant outsourcing business in service and logistics was turned into a new Gauselmann subsidiary, Merkur Engineering.
Praesepe group is a major customer of Town and County; as a result, its CEO, Nick Harding, has taken control of Merkur Engineering.
Harding said he was keen to see the Merkur Engineering outsourcing business grow. “We have now amalgamated all of our Praesepe machine maintenance and service business into Merkur Engineering and with the help of Paul Langham, a former managing director at Town and County, we will grow it into a separate third-party business.
“As the industry becomes more technology-based and more complex, smaller operators and their band of ageing engineers find it harder to handle. A high-quality software engineer is needed these days to look at your machines. We can provide the logistics that they need and even help dispose of used equipment, while the operators get on with focusing on what’s important to them.”
