The number of registered players of Funworld's Photo Play touchscreen terminals has now exceeded the 10 million mark.

Photo Play community members play popular games in tournaments with real rewards.

“This type of gaming is not just a popular pastime,” said Funworld’s head of sales and marketing, Norbert Langer. “Members play games in order to test their skills against other gamers.”

The games are aimed at a broad target group. Learning how to play them only takes a few minutes, which makes Photo Play attractive for older gamers. “Older gamers play Photo Play games in order to keep themselves mentally fit and to train their memory, as well as to maintain and improve their reaction skills,” said Langer.

“The younger target group is also open to this trend, with entertainment and relaxation being the key motivators. Middle-aged women are getting particularly interested in these games and almost half of all members registered in the system are female.”

Another remarkable result of a field test prior to the introduction of the Photo Play System 2008 was that more than 60 per cent of women play games in order to relax and to relieve stress, whereas only 42 per cent of men rated this factor as \‘very important.’

Funworld has experienced particular member growth in Germany during 2007. “Around 15 million Germans are already playing casual games on the internet,” said Langer.

“This makes casual games more than twice as popular among Germans as console games.”
