There are hopes that the subject of ticket redemption games in France will be raised in the French Senate again later this year.

France

The subject came up a few months ago when President Macron’s ‘pact law’ offered the opportunity for the fast removal of old legislation.

The idea was to help the French economy by tidying up outdated regulation and that included ticket redemption. In the event it was defeated by only six votes, but French regulators are understood to appreciate that non permitting ticket redemption is unreasonable.

We understand that it is hoped to revisit the subject again later in the year. Meanwhile, only French travelling fairgrounds are legally permitted to offer ticket redemption. Exceptions to that include non-profit-making clubs and the lotteries, although in practice, neither takes up the opportunity.

Many of the world’s leading redemption game suppliers, backed by the European federation of coin machine trade associations, Euromat, have lent their support to a revision of the French regulations that currently prevent this sector opening.
